Isaac Newton discovered that colour was a property of light by measuring it through a prism, he investigated refraction of light and demonstrated that the multi-coloured spectrum produced by a prism could recompose into white light by a lens and second prism and came to theorise that colour is the result of objects generating the colour themselves (Newton’s theory of colour).
Newton recognised that individual rays of light have immutable properties, stating that individual rays have individual colours when they strike the retina of the eye, he also concluded that rays refract at distinct angles, because he believed that chromatic aberration could never be eliminated from lenses he turned to reflecting telescope, constructing the first ever built.
Newton ivestigated the colour theoryr, aound 1671-72 he discovered the origin of colour when he shone a beam of light through an angular prism splitting it into the spectrum (various colours of the rainbow).
